Should I purchase the Mini Micro (ages 2-5) or the Maxi Micro (ages 5-12)? My 4-year-old is big for his/her age.

To choose between the Micro Mini and Micro Maxi, we recommend that you consider the size of the child in addition to their age. The Maxi is designed for children ages 5-12, up to 100 lbs, but may be suitable for a younger child depending on their weight and coordination. The minimum weight requirement for the Maxi is 35 lbs.  This in mind, the Mini's lighter weight makes it easier to maneuver and helps build confidence for younger riders.

The Maxi weighs 2 lbs more than the Mini and its deck is 1 inch wider and almost 2 inches longer; this makes the Maxi a little more challenging to control, maneuver, and pick-up when compared to the Mini.  The Mini's steering bar is fixed at a height of 24 inches above the deck; the Maxi's steering bar is adjustable from 24 inches up to 36 inches, allowing it to 'grow' with the child.

Please bear in mind that all parts are replaceable on Micro products; thus, when a child outgrows a Mini/Maxi, it can be refreshed as needed to be passed on to a younger sibling or friend. By changing the handle bar grips, deck color, wheels, etc., the scooter can be made 'like new'.
