So You Bought a Scooter. Now What?

Congratulations on your new scooter! If we know anything from our years in the biz, it’s that you’ve got lots of fun times ahead.

You may be thinking, “I have this scooter. What do I do now?”

There are a few tips and tricks we’ve learned over the years to help you make the most out of your new Micro, and we’re excited to share them with you. So, let’s get started!

Safety Tips + Get a Helmet

If you haven’t already purchased a helmet, now’s the time! (Seriously, the sooner the better.) You can find more information on helmet safety in this blog post, but to sum it up, helmets are essential when riding a scooter.

We offer a variety of styles and sizes on our helmets page.

It's important to review safety tips with riders (young and old!) before hopping on your scooter for the first time! We've listed out our top safety tips here, including where it is safe to ride, recommended top scooter speeds, traffic safety, and more.

Learn How It Works

Does your scooter have any special features? A kickstand? Light up wheels? Adjustable T-Bar? Folding mechanism? Do you know how the steering works?

Take a look at the user manual that came with your scooter, and be sure that everything makes sense to you. It will walk you through any special features of your specific scooter model, as well as provide information on how to assemble it (if needed). Make sure that you check your scooter for proper assembly before you hop on it to start riding!

Is this your first experience with a three-wheeled scooter? All of Micro's scooters with three wheels feature our "lean-to-steer" riding styleOur lean-to-steer turning requires riders to shift their weight to the right or left, in order to steer right or left. Kids learn this weight-shifting intuitively, and it improves balance, coordination, and motor skills, which are skills they will use in many activities throughout their life!

Our two-wheel scooters steer in a similar way to riding a bike: Simply turn the handlebars in the direction you would like to go, and your front wheel will point you in that direction!

Accessorize!

We offer scooters in a variety of different colors, but for added safety and flair, you can add on some of our much loved scooter accessories!

Like helmets, we consider scooter lights and scooter bells to be essential. It’s important to be seen and heard! Depending on where you’ll put your scooter when it’s not in use, you may want to consider a scooterpeg for easy storage.

Looking to add some flair? Our Scooter Heads are wildly popular and transform scooters into your child’s favorite animal. Kids also love our high quality streamers attached to their handlebars! You can trust our line of quality accessories to keep you safe and stylish.

Take Care Of Your Micro

Our scooters are built to last, so you can count on having your Micro practically forever! With that said, there are a few things you can do to keep your scooter in tip top shape, and make it last for years to come.

We have a whole blog post on scooter care, but some of our top tips include: Storing your scooter in a dry place, giving it an occasional cleaning and some lubrication every once in a while, and checking bolts and screws periodically to see if they could use tightening.

Also occasionally a part of scooter ownership-- replacement parts! If something gets worn or breaks, you can bet we have the replacement (and video instructions).

Don’t forget about your 2 year warranty, too!

Find Your Favorite Place to Ride

Now that we’ve got that covered, all that’s left is finding your favorite place to ride!

If your little one is just learning how to scoot, they’ll surely love riding in the comfort of their home. Fear not: our wheels don’t leave marks.

Our top tips for finding the perfect outdoor scooting path? Pick somewhere smooth and dry. A park or neighborhood sidewalk can be a great place to start!

We hope you love your new Micro, and trust that you’ll enjoy it for years to come!
